The German tuners announced that their 9ff Porsche GT9 hit 409 km/h on the 10th of April 2008. The speed record of the 9ff Porsche GT9 was set on the Papenburg race track. 9ff claims this is a new world speed record for a production car. As far as we know the current world speed record is held by the SSC Ultimate Aero with 255 mph (411 km/h), but they did beat the Veyron's 407 km/h speed record.
The 9ff Porsche GT9 is limited to 20 units and is powered by 4.2-litre flat-six twin turbo engine that develops close to 1000 hp.
