At this year's International Engine of the Year competition the Porsche 3.6 Turbo engine won the 2008 Best Performance Engine award. The powers the 911 Turbo and GT2 supersportscar. The same 3.6 Turbo engine develops 420 bhp in the Porsche 911 Turbo and 530 hp in the GT2 sportscar.

The 2008 Best Performance Engine award winning Porsche 3.6 Turbo engine features BorgWarner variable turbine geometry exhaust gas turbochargers, two intercoolers and an automatic waste valve. With this engine the Porsche 911 Turbo has a top speed of 310 km/h and the GT2 329 km/h both registering 0.100 km/h acceleration times of under 4 seconds.
