Watch out AUDI R8! BMW may bring the M10 to the new hypercars world?
Already, the BMW M6, with its road performance and dynamics, with the V10 engine and the sumptuous 507 HP plays the sports car role very well. Also does the BMW M6 Cabrio with identical power supplements. But both vehicles are heavy four seaters and the classical sports car offers however only place for two people and are easier.

| The possible BMW M10 will be a genuine high speed vehicle, according to some BMW. They stated that BMW does not want to build a central engine sports car. Instead the engine is to be mounted in the front, lengthwise. This suggests that they might use the V10 engine from the M5/M6, which will carry approximately 550 HP out in the M10. An engine alternative is also future 4.0 litres V8 from this year's 420 HP BMW M3. With this engine the M10 would lie in direct competition with the AUDI R8 4,2 FSI. |
In order to over-bid the road performance of the sports car, BMW will use its whole know-how of carbon fiber construction. The technology is already in the series - for example with components like the roof of the M6 or its bumper bracket. Combined with magnesium and aluminum parts the weight of the M10 could land around the 1400 Kilos spot. That would result in a weight per horsepower from 2,5 to 2.8 Kilo/PS.
