BMW X5 hybrid is just around the corner as the Bavarian carmaker is preparing to unveil the new Concept5 X5 eDrive next month at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show. The BMW X5 eDrive Hybrid concept combines the car manufacturer's xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system with a plug-in hybrid drive. The BMW X5 eDrive comes with a TwinPower turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and a 70 kW/95 hp electric motor. The hybrid X5 is able to run on electricity only for up to 19 miles (30 km), which is not much, but enough for everyday city use. BMW says that the hybrid X5 eDrive is able to reach a top speed of 75 mph (120 km/h) and that it has a fuel economy of 74.3 mpg imp (3.8 litres per 100 kilometers). Its CO2 emissions are rated at 90 g/km. Apparently, the X5 e Drive is able to accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in less than 7 seconds.

The BMW X5 eDrive offer three driving modes: intelligent hybrid drive, pure electric and the Save Battery mode.

The hybrid X5 eDrive Bimmer comes with electronically controlled and fully variable distribution of drive between its front and rear axles.

For improved efficiency, the X5 hybrid offers the ECO PRO driving mode and the Proactive Driving Assistant, which uses information gathered from the navigation system for selecting the most efficient driving mode.

The hybrid BMW X5 eDrive comes with a few distinctive styling elements, such as the kidney grille slats, the air intake bars and the inlay in the rear bumper, which are all painted in the i Blue color. The X5 eDrive is also fitted with special roof rails, a connector for the charging cable and 21-inch alloys.

So far, BMW did not announce the date when the X5 hybrid will go into production.
