Brembo announced that it has formed a joint venture with SGL Group to mass produce carbon ceramic brakes. The mass production of carbon ceramic brakes means the cost of production will drop, which in turn means they will get less expensive. Brembo want to mass produce carbon ceramic brakes for passenger cars and commercial vehicles and has among its current customers the likes of Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Daimler, Ferrari and Lamborghini.
The mid-term objective of Brembo's joint venture with SGL Group is to develop a new generation of carbon ceramic brake disks for automated production.
Brembo expects that, despite the current conditions, carbon ceramic brakes represents a potential triple digit million Euro market.
