The first images and details of the new Dodge Ram Long-Hauler were released today, as the concept truck prepares for an eight month tour of the USA. Ram's new Long-Hauler concept is based on Class 5 Ram 5500 Chassis Cab, which was converted to Mega Cab after it received a an 8-foot box and a mid-ship fuel tank. Dodge also gave the Ram Long-Hauler a second frame-mounted tank and a third, optional, bed-mounted auxiliary tank. The concept's fuel capacity totals 170 gallons.

The Dodge Ram Long-Hauler has a 197.4 inch wheelbase and a 37,500 Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR), sits between a Class 3 (one-ton) and a Class 4 truck. The Ram Long-Hauler measures 24 feet in length, 79.1 inches in height, and has an estimated curb weight of 9,300 lbs.

To power the Ram Long-Hauler, dodge chose a 6.7-liter six-cylinder inline High Output Cummins Turbo Diesel engine with an output of 800 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed, Aisin AS68RC automatic transmission, a four-wheel-drive transfer case and a 4.88 Dana 110 axle with dual rear wheels.

At the interior, the Dodge's Ram Long-Hauler features an upgraded NVH package, with 2+2 leather seating and a special driver's seat. It comes with power-adjustable footrests for the rear seats

and a center console with an integrated refrigerator, cup holders and tray tables.

At this point, dodge does not mention whether or not it will ever build the Ram Long-Hauler concept.
