According to the German press, an electric Rolls Royce Phantom is in the works. Richard Carter, the company's spokesman said at the Goodwood festival that the Rolls Royce Phantom is the ideal candidate for an electric version. The model is large enough to accommodate all the gear required by an electric Rolls Royce Phantom, including batteries and powertrain.
An electric Rolls Royce Phantom is also viable because motors have low noise levels and offer high power from low revs. This is exactly what Rolls Royce is looking for.
The only problem of the electric Rolls Royce Phantom is range as the model is usually linked to long distances.
Technical details of the electric Rolls Royce Phantom are not available at the moment, but it's expected the company to borrow technology from BMW and their EfficientDynamics program.
