During today's unveiling of the new Ferrari F10 Formula 1 race car, Luca di Montezemolo has announced that the Ferrari 599 GTB Hybrid will be premiered at the next Geneva auto Show in March. The Ferrari 599 GTB Hybrid will be the first every hybrid car produced by the Italian supercar manufacturer. The Ferrari 599 GTB Hybrid will be powered by a petrol engine coupled with an electric motor. The electricity for powering the Ferrari 599 GTB Hybrid will come from Lithium-ion batteries and braking energy recovery system similar to the KERS used in Formula 1.
The Ferrari 599 GTB Hybrid however, will have some differences in comparison to other hybrid cars. It will use two electric motors instead of just one. When turning, one motor will power the
wheel from the exterior, while the other will gather energy from the KERS-like system. The electric motors Ferrari 599 GTB Hybrid will be used just when driving in urban areas.
