The Jaguar XFR-S has finally been revealed, with the carmaker releasing all the specifications and details of the new high-performance sedan. The Jaguar XFR-S is powered by 5-liter supercharged V8 engine with Intelligent Stop/Start that's good for 550 hp (405 kW) at 6500 rpm and 680 Nm (502 lb/ft) of torque between 2500 rpm and 5500 rpm. The engine is coupled with a ZF 8-speed Quickshift automatic transmission. With this powertrain, the XFR-S Jag is able to get from nought to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and from zero to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. Jaguar limits the top speed of the XFR-S at 186 mph (300 km/h). The official specifications say that the Jaguar XFR-S offers a 15 mpg (US) fuel economy in the city, 23 mpg on the highway and 18 mpg in the combined cycle. Its CO2 emissions are rated at 270 g/km. Judging by these numbers, the XFR-S is the fastest and most powerful sedan ever made by Jaguar.
Jaguar equipped the XFR-S with several new technologies, such as spray-guided direct injection (SGDI) and dual independent variable cam timing (DIVCT). The car is also equipped with a special exhaust system for a sonorous "soundtrack". The new transmission of the XFR-S is able to detect a sportier driving style and it's able to make the gearshifts more aggressive when it does so. Its Corner Recognition system manages to hold the correct gear for the exit. Since it has more power than the XFR, Jaguar had to adapt the suspension system of the XFR-S accordingly. The lateral stiffness has been increased by 30% and other changes have also been made.
The XFR-S Jag is also equipped with Adaptive Dynamics, an active electronic differential and the Dynamic Stability Control system.
In terms of design, the XFR-S comes with a new front bumper with carbon fiber inserts, a carbon front splitter, extended side skirts, an extended rear bumper with an integrated carbon diffuser, and a huge rear wing. For the interior of the XFR-S, Jaguar chose a leather trim, and carbon / aluminum trim parts. The XFR-S is equipped with an 825W, 18-speaker Meridian Surround Sound System.
The price of the Jaguar XFR-S has not been announced yet, but the carmaker says it will put it on sale in 2013 as a 2014 model. Only 100 units will arrive in the United States.
UPDATE: The Jaguar XFR-S price for the UK market, where it goes on sale in May 2013, has been set to £79,995 GBP.
