Lamborghini revealed yesterday the new Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse special edition, which promises to bring the racing world to the street. The Lamborghini Gallardo Squadra Corse is based on the Super Trofeo racing car and it's going to have its world debut this fall, at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show. Lamborghini says that the Squadra Corse is the most extreme road-legal Gallardo they have ever built. The Squadra Corse Gallardo is powered by the 5.2 liter V10 engine, which has been tuned to output 570 hp (419 kW) at 8,000 rpm. The engine of the Gallardo Squadra Corse is mated to a robotized e-gear 6-speed gearbox with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. Apart from having more power, the Lambo is also 70 kg lighter than the standard version of the Gallardo.
With a dry weight of 1340 kilograms, the Gallardo Squadra Corse has a power-to-weight ratio of 2.35 kilograms per hp. These figures translate into a 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) acceleration time of just 3.4 seconds. The Squadra Corse can reach the 200 km/h mark in just 10.4 seconds and it can keep accelerating up to a top speed of 320 km/h.
The Lamborghini Gallardo Squadra Corse comes equipped with carbon ceramic brakes, obviously, the same engine as the Blancpain Super Trofeo racer, the same carbon rear wing, and the same removable engine hood, which is also made of carbon.
As you know, Lamborghini is very fond of its Italian origin. So, the Gallardo Squadra Corse features a green, white and red decal on the side. Lamborghini will sell the Squadra Corse Gallardo with a choice between four colors: Giallo Midas (yellow), Bianco Monocerus (white), Grigio Thalasso (grey) and in Rosso Mars (red). The Gallardo Squadra Corse sits on 19-inch high-gloss black alloys, and red, black or yellow brake calipers.
Lamborghini went full carbon fiber with the interior of the Gallardo Squadra Corse. Apart from just a few Alcantara-covered bits and pieces, everything is made with this stuff, including the racing seats. If you're looking for just a bit of comfort in your new Squadra Corse, Lamborghini will replace the racing seats with a pair of standard ones.
The Lamborghini Gallardo Squadra Corse's price is going to be announced at a later date.
