According to a recent rumor, the next generation of the RX7 will be the Mazda RX9 which will be a turbo. The Mazda RX9 Turbo will come as soon as 2013 and it will be powered by a turbocharged engine, but its exact details are not known yet. However, what we do know is that the Mazda RX9 turbo will keep the rotary engine that made its predecessors famous.
The Mazda RX9 turbo rumor comes at the same time as the Japanese company prepares itself to end the production of the RX8 next month. The RX8's carrier is market by a poor fuel economy which is not a positive aspects, especially in the current market conditions. This means that the Mazda RX9 turbo will have to be more fuel efficient in order to keep the sales up.
This is quite difficult to attain while using a turbocharged engine.
The manufacturer is expected to use an electric turbocharger on the Mazda RX9, which just might do the job.
Although the Nagare design concept will be replaced soon, our sources believe the Mazda RX9 turbo will be the company's last model to be styled this way.
