Mazda announced the premiere of three Special Needs Vehicles for the International Home Care and Rehabilitation Exhibition 2008. The first Mazda Special Needs Vehicle is the AZ-Wagon i. The Mazda AZ-Wagon i is based on the micro-mini AZ-Wagon and offers the possibility for people in wheelchairs to get in and out of the vehicle through the rear liftgate opening.

The Mazda MPV Second Row Lift-up Seat is based on the MPV minivan and is designed to transport and assist wheelchair users. The second row seat automatically elevates and rotates for ease of use.

The Mazda Biante Autostep features a new function (Autostep) that helps passengers step into the rear cabin. The Autostep automatically extends and withdraws when the sliding door is opened and closed.
