MBtech, or Mercedes-Benz Technology, has revealed at the 63rd IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hanover the Mercedes Reporter pickup truck concept. The Mercedes Reporter pickup truck is powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain which includes a 1.2 liter natural gas combustion engine that develops 75 kW and an electric motor that brings an additional 25 kW to the equation. The developers say the Mercedes Reporter pickup truck has a maximum range of 300 km and a top speed of 130 km/h. The Mercedes Reporter pickup truck employs a solution that has found its way into more and more models lately. The combustion engine drives the front axle of the Mercedes Reporter pickup truck, while the electric motor drives the rear wheels.

To get the electric juice need by the batteries, the Mercedes Reporter pickup truck is fitted with a solar panel roof.

The Mercedes Reporter pickup truck features a modular design and can be converted to suit various needs. It van also become a van or a people carrier.
