Mitsubishi Evo X Streamside

 »  »  »

We've been browsing the web for over a year now trying to find Mitsubishi Evo X body kit that's both functional and good looking. Unfortunately, the Mitsubishi Evo X Streamside is just a design concept made by a talented Evo enthusiast. While drawing the Mitsubishi Evo X Streamside he tried to keep it's road car feel while giving it a time-attack style.

Olli says the inspiration for the Mitsubishi Evo X Streamside came from the Darth Maul BMW, but speaking from an Evo X owner's point of view I have to say this: I don't want M3 side mirrors on my car and I'm not too found of a CSL trunk lid lip either. The good news is, those two elements are about the only objections we have to Olli's design. Everything else is just stunning. We especially love the center double exhaust and the rear diffuser. The black rims with the red accent is actually something on our "to-do" list. Another element you can't go wrong with is the wider stance and the darkened headlamps.

Here is what Olli had to say about his work:

This is how I would love to see my own Evo X if I had one. I wanted some of that time-attack style on it while still maintaining the road car feel in it. Functionality while also looking really stunning. I kept that in mind while I was working on it.

The stock Evo X has lots beautiful clean lines everywhere and I wanted to incorporate that into the

re-designed body kit as well. Although it might not be the most visible feature on the car, but it has slightly wider body. This can be seen by comparing the door lines to the original images and from the little holes next to the newly worked carbon headlights. Rear lights are from Ralliart.

I kept the front bumper's basic shape intact but with slightly bigger side holes and a wider middle part. Some design elements in the front bumper have been inspired by the "Darth Maul BMW" which I think looks fantastic. The wing mirrors are also from it.

Side skirts has been kept fairly simple but I added the fins to spice them up a little. The fin is an actual real-life part for the Evo by the way. I also added same kind of fins on both the front and rear bumpers. Rear bumper's fin makes the air flow push the car's rear end to the road while flowing through the little holes on the upper corners of the rear diffuser. Just a small detail I got into making, which I justified like so.

Rear diffuser is all my own design. I think the sharp yet curvy shapes in it work well with Evo X's

already sharp characteristics. The headlights' vicious stare is the best example of that.

Rear wing is pretty much stock except that I made the lower front corners even a little sharper. Just something to match with the radical diffuser. Also, the newly shaped rear lid is a real-life modification for the Evo X. It is manufactured by Do-Luck.

About the bonnet, I wanted to keep the basics of Evo X in it. I made the air intake in the middle slightly bigger and added another set of gills on it.

I have always liked the "vortex generators" (or whatever they are called) on top of the rear

windshield since Mitsubishi first had them on their MR models years back. Of course, I made them on mine as well.

The wheels was a tough choice between Volk TE37 or Volk CE28. I found a picture which had the matte black TE37's and fell in love with those. You can't go wrong with Volk Rays on an Evo! And of course, a car should have a lot of power too. I wanted to show it by adding two huge intercoolers in the front bumper and an aggressive Gemballa-style dual exhausts coming out in the middle of the rear bumper. All black parts have also been wrapped up in carbon fiber.
