Mitsubishi MiEV Evo I

 »  »  »

Mitsubishi announced back in October last year that the 2.0-liter AWD petrol-drinking madness we all like to call the Evo will seize to exist. Back then they said the next one will be a diesel hybrid. Meanwhile, they found a replacement - the i-MiEV. Really, they actually strapped "Evolution" on its back! Yes it's a Pikes Peak Hill Climb racer, but as we said yesterday, don't mess with a classic. We don't argue that electric cars have their bonuses. They may accelerate faster, require less fuel, and help grow more trees, but what about the experience? The sound comes from a speaker (they actually have laws in some countries for this), you can't do a lap of the Nurburgring since the battery won't last, and you won't be able to charge your iPhone because the car is plugged in.

Talking about environmentally friendly... How do you think electricity is made? Rant stop!

The i-MiEV Evolution will be driven in this year's Pikes Peak Hill Climb by two-time Dakar Rally winner Hiroshi Masuoka (2002, 2003). Mr. Masuoka had this to say about his upcoming performance in an electric rally car: "Given the tough driving conditions that Pikes Peak is known for, I'm really keen to show people the world over those electric vehicles are capable of gutsy motive performance and excellent handling in addition to their superior environmental performance."
