During last week-end's NASCAR race at the Talladega Superspeedway driver Carl Edwards managed to get into a serious crash while trying to block Brad Keselowski who was trying to sling shot from behind. The contact between the cars sent Edwards in a spin and after the got hit by a second car he took off into the air. This sent him into the fence which apparently injured seven of the spectators. The injures of the fans, although serious, were not life threatening. Driver Carl Edwards was not injured.
