German sources have released new info on the future Peugeot 601 - a luxury four-door coupe that might go on sale sometime in 2013. At this point, the French carmaker has not confirmed, nor denied, the rumored plans of building the Peugeot 601.
Our sources report that the Peugeot 601 will be built on the same platform as the upcoming 508, and will be the successor of the current 607. The might get both a two-wheel-drive system and a four-wheel-drive one, and is expected to output more than 200 hp. We guess however, that if the Peugeot 601 will be a reality, the manufacturer will sell it with a range of engines, both petrol and diesel.
A four-door coupe Peugeot 601 might fall in the same market segment as the Volkswagen Passat CC or even the Mercedes CLS. Although we doubt a Mercedes customer will ever go for a Peugeot, the 601 might just do the job.
