The Porsche 917 is the car that offered Porsche the first overall victories in Le Mans in 1970 and 1971. The Porsche 917 is powered by either a 4.5, or 4.9, or a 5.0 liters engine all of them being flat 12-cylinder engines. The Porsche 917 had a top speed of around 230 mph (371 km/h) and a 0-62 mph acceleration time of under 3.5 seconds.
In 1973 a turbocharged version of the Porsche 917 was developed that had an output of 1,580 bhp (1,180 kW) in qualifying tune.
