Porsche To Sue Nissan Over Goodwood Ad

 »  »  »

According to the British press, Porsche is looking to sue Nissan over a Goodwood ad that was shown at this year's event. The ad, shown in the attached image, suggests a Nissan 350Z that made quite a few casualties in the Porsche, BMW and Audi camp. It seems that everybody is picking on Porsche these days. Just a few weeks back Mini USA challenged Porsche to a duel, and now Nissan takes its shots at the German carmaker. Is Porsche going a little soft?

The ad image is posted on London's Imax theatre and its tag line says "How to beat the Germans". To back their ads, Nissan also posts various occasions in which its models won against Porsche and the two other rivals in various, Nurburgring branded, challenges.

This campaign was also present at this year's Goodwood Festival Of Speed, where Porsche officials got quite mad with Nissan. Reportedly, they filed a complaint with Nissan about this matter and even threaten to sue the Japanese company. Porsche officials claimed that Nissan is using their logo which was in breach of the copyright law.

On one hand, Nissan's ad is really funny, although it might be a little far from reality. On the other hand, Porsche's got all the reasons to get mad. In the end, both companies win,

since a little scandal it's always good for publicity.
