Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation, a Chinese car company, has announced it will unveil the SAIC Leaf concept car at this year's Beijing Auto Show. This odd looking vehicle has nothing in common with the Nissan Leaf. One of the most interesting features of the SAIC Leaf concept is the "leaf" shaped roof and the absence of the windows.
The SAIC Leaf concept has been developed to showcase various environmentally friendly technologies. The roof of the SAIC Leaf features solar panels that juice an electric motor. to get the most out of the sun, the rood of the SAIC Leaf concept can orient the solar panels towards the sun. The odd roof can also release oxygen in the atmosphere, similar to a real tree leaf.
The solar roof of the SAIC Leaf can also store the energy taken from the sun for later use.
The rims of the SAIC Leaf concept are also used to create electricity. They spin and work on the same principle as a windmill.
