The British press is releasing new Skoda Joyster info shedding some more light on the company's new city car. The Skoda Joyster will be based on the Volkswagen Up! concept, which will also spawn the new VW Lupo. This means the new Skoda Joyster city car will be more or less the next Lupo, with a different skin. The Skoda Joyster name has been used before by the VW owned brand, as it has unveiled a concept back in 2006 wearing the same badge.

The power of the Skoda Joyster is expected to come from wither a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine or a 1.2-liter three-cylinder diesel unit. The power outputs are not known yet. The Skoda Joyster is expected to go for low CO2 emissions, being a city car, with less than

80 g/km of CO2 for the diesel and less than 100 g/km for the gasoline model.

The Skoda Joyster price is expected to go around 9,000 EUR as the car want to enter the same market segment as the Toyota iQ and the Peugeot 107. The British press is also speculating that VW might also sell an electric version of the Skoda Joyster.
