Subaru ADA Active Driving Assist

 »  »  »

The next generation ADA (Active Driving Assist) was developed by Subaru with the goal of achieving accidents free driving.

The ADA system is composed of three sub-systems: Subaru's Advanced Pre-Crash Safety system, Evolutionary Cruise Control for All Speed Ranges and Sway Warning, Lane Departure Warning.

The functions of Subaru's Advanced Pre-Crash Safety system system include:
- it responds to potential collisions with vulnerable motorists such as bicyclists and pedestrians
- it responds to objects in front of the car as well as the offset ones

- it responds to potential rear end collisions at low speed (less than 15 km/h) (this is a first in the world)
- when an obstacle is detected in front of the car it responds in the case you step on the gas by mistake

The functions of Evolutionary Cruise Control for All Speed Ranges system includes:
- rather than detecting only the vehicle ahead, the stereo camera's ability to detect the

environment is leveraged to achieve smooth control that is even closer to the driver's sensibility.
- a natural and responsive function that can follow almost 0 to 100 km/h has been achieved

The functions of the Sway Warning, Lane Departure Warning include:
- if the car is detected to be unsteady due to driver problems an alarm will sound
- if the car seems to wonder out of a lane an alarm will sound.
