Toyota has announced today that it will premiere the electric Toyota iQ EV at the 2011 Geneva motor show next month. The Toyota iQ EV is powered by a newly developed powertrain, which is based on the company's Hybrid Synergy Drive technology. At this point, the company did not release any specs of Toyota iQ electric, but it promises it will offer compact city agility with zero emissions.
The Toyota iQ electric features newly developed, flat, highly compact lithium-ion battery pack that employs an intelligent packaging solution. In this way, the Toyota iQ electric manages to offer the same passenger room and luggage capacity as the regular, petrol powered model.
The Toyota iQ electric will begin testing in Europe during 2011 and its production version will be on sale in 2012.
