The tuners from Unichip have released the U-connect plug and play ECU upgrade for the Land Rover Freelander 2 TD4. The Unichip Land Rover Freelander 2 TD4 comes with 20 bhp and 52 lb.ft of torque more than the standard car, for a total of 180 bhp at 3164 rpm and 362lb.ft at just 2346 rpm. Although the extra power of the Unichip Land Rover Freelander 2 TD4 doesn't seem like much, it could give you that extra edge you need when overtaking someone. The Unichip Land Rover Freelander 2 TD4 is powered by the standard 2.,2-liter four cylinder common rail diesel engine that has received a Uni-Q piggyback ECU which re-tunes the fuelling and turbo boost settings of the SUV.

The Unichip Land Rover Freelander 2 TD4 price is

478.10 GBP and can be installed on both manual and automatic transmission versions of the car, on 2006 onwards models.

Unichip Press Release

Hugely popular in the UK and Europe thanks to it’s on road driving prowess and four wheel drive capabilities, Unichip Europe is delighted to announce the launch of a ‘U-Connect’ plug and play

performance ECU upgrade for the 2.2-litre Land Rover Freelander 2 TD4.

Months of careful dyno and road testing has enabled Unichip Europe’s technicians to use the powerful and versatile Uni-Q piggyback ECU to fine tune the fuelling and turbo boost settings on the 2179cc, four cylinder, common rail Land Rover TD4 powerplant to deliver noticeable performance improvements.

Designed as a DIY fitment via its plug and play ‘U-Connect’ wiring loom, the Unichip is fitted (and removed) in minutes.

It leaves no electronic footprint and is ‘invisible’ to main dealers during servicing. To ensure it is totally tamperproof, the ‘U-Connect’ unit can only be remapped by a qualified Unichip agent.

Post installation, the performance gains realised by the Unichip on the Land Rover Freelander 2 TD4 are significant. Peak power increases by 20 bhp over standard to a measured 180 bhp at 3164 rpm, while torque output rises by 52 lb.ft to 362lb.ft at just 2346 rpm.

In real world terms the Unichip performance advantage transforms the Freelander 2’s driving experience. The car feels livelier, more eager, smoother and pulls noticeably harder from low engine speeds thanks to the additional torque on tap. The extra torque not only translates into superior in-gear acceleration which enhances the Freelander’s overtaking abilities but also improves the car’s towing abilities.

In a climate of rising fuel prices, Land Rover Freelander 2 TD 4 owners will be pleased that this extra performance doesn’t detract from the car’s 42 mpg combined fuel economy. Tests have proven that thanks to a combination of the increased low speed torque and efficiencies realised by the refined Unichip Uni-Q ECU map,

fuel economy is unaffected by the Unichip U-Connect package, with drivers actually reporting a 5-10% better fuel consumption compared to standard.

Available now directly from Unichip Europe, priced at £478.10 including VAT @ 17.5% and carrying part number PPLAN10.0, the Unichip U-Connect suits both manual and automatic transmission variants of the Land Rover Freelander TD4 produced from 2006 onwards.
