Volkswagen To Buy Alfa Romeo

According to various Italian sources, Volkswagen is looking to buy yet another brand - Alfa Romeo. Reportedly, Volkswagen is prepared to part with more than 1 billion Euros in order to buy Alfa Romeo. At this time, there are no official statements regarding this matter from either Volkswagen nor Alfa Romeo.

Apparently, Volkswagen is looking to impose its new Polo and Golf platforms for the future Alfa Romeo models. Italian style and German engineering? This could be a winning idea. It also means the future Alfa Romeo models will all have the same standard and built quality as any other German car.

Various rumors say that Walter de' Silva, VW's

head of design, is trying to persuade Martin Winterkorn, VW's CEO, to buy Alfa Romeo, which he believe it will be a valuable addition to the Group.

VW aims to introduce an Alfa Romeo branded sports model, saloon and coupe based on its BlueSport concept. Even more interesting is the fact that the Alfa Romeo 8C will be built on the same platform as the Audi R8.

These are all speculations at the moment, that have not been confirmed, not denied, at this moment.
