The new BMW M4 is being put to the test against the Mercedes C63 AMG Edition 507. The BMW M4 is priced at 56,653 GBP, which is around 11,000 GBP less than the Mercedes C63 AMG 507. This is quite a bit of money. The power of the M4 Bimmer comes from a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder twin-turbocharged engine that puts out 425 bhp between 5,500 rpm and 7,300 rpm and 406 lb-ft of torque between 1,800 rpm and 5,500 rpm. The C63 AMG 507 is powered by a much larger 6.2-liter V8 engine that develops 500 bhp at 6,800 rpm and 450 lb-ft of torque at 5,200 rpm. With a weight of 1,537 kg, the BMW M4 is almost 200 kg lighter than the Mercedes C63 AMG, which weighs 1,730 kg. The M4 needs 4.1 seconds to get from zero to 60 mph, while the Merc needs 4.2 seconds to reach the same speed. The M4's top speed is limited to 155 mph (250 km/h), while the C63 AMG 507 tops at 174 mph.
In terms of efficiency, the M4 promises 34.0 mpg, while the C63 offers just 23.5 mpg. With 194 g/km of CO2 emissions, the M4 is much more environment friendly than the C63, which is rated with a 280 g/km of CO2 emissions. Both, the BMW M4 and the Mercedes C63 AMG 507 are available with a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. However the M4 is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox too.
