Mercedes has released images of the 1885 Daimler riding car which represents the world's first motorbike. The actual 1885 Daimler riding car motorbike represents a replica of the original vehicle, for which Gottlieb Daimler applied for a patent on 29 August 1885. These images of the 1885 Daimler riding car were taken in the spa gardens of Bad Cannstatt.

The 1885 Daimler riding car had a hot tube ignition system and was built as a test unit by Gotllieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach. The engine of the 1885 Daimler riding car was meant to prove the design was suitable for everyday use.

The 1885 Daimler riding car was built in the same workshop as the world's first high-speed gasoline engine back in 1883.
