| Toyota has announced a number of upgrades for the 2008 Toyota Hilux. The 2008 Toyota HiLux WorkMate will have power windows, power door locks, fabric door trim and will be fitted with 15-inch wheels.

| All HiLux SR grades now have power mirrors, while SR vehicles with automatic transmission will be fitted with cruise control.
Toyota's HiLux line-up comprises 30 model variants, with the choice of two- and four-wheel drive, three cabins, three DOHC engines, manual and automatic transmission and three equipment grades. The three equipment grades are WorkMate, SR and SR5. . |

| All models have dual SRS airbags.
ABS anti-skid brakes are standard equipment on high-grade SR5 models and optionally available on WorkMate and SR grades. Toyota dominates both the 4x2 and 4x4 utility markets, with market shares of 26.5 per cent and 27.8 per cent respectively for the eight months to August 2007, according to automotive industry statistician VFACTS. There are 14 4x2 models and 16 4x4 HiLux variants. |

| The three cabins are Single Cab, Xtra Cab and Double Cab.
The three DOHC engines are 2.7-litre VVT-i petrol, 3.0-litre Electronic Direct Injection (EDI) turbo-diesel and 4.0-litre VVT-i quad-cam V6 petrol. The four-cylinder 2.7-litre petrol is exclusive to 4x2 WorkMate and is matched to a five-speed manual transmission. |

| Quad-cam V6 petrol and turbo-diesel are offered in 4x2 and 4x4, and can be matched to a five-speed manual or to an electronically controlled automatic transmission with gated shift.
The quad-cam V6 automatic is a five-speed transmission. All HiLux models have independent double-wishbone front suspension. |
