Hilux Based Toyota Fortuner Specs Released

Toyota released today the specs of the Hilux-based Fortuner SUV, which is set to go on sale on the Australian market at the end of October. So far, Japanese carmaker did not disclose the price list of the Fortuner, but they did revealed its complete details. Toyota's new SUV measures 4,795mm in length, 1,855mm in width, and 1,835mm in height. With a 2,745-mm wheelbase, a 1,540-mm front track (1,640mm the GX), and a 1,555-mm rear track, the Fortuner promises to offer 225 mm of running clearance. At launch, the Toyota Fortuner is going to be sold with a 2.8-litre direct-injection 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine that produces 130 kW at 3,400rpm and 450 Nm of torque at 1,600-2,400 rpm. This is the automatic transmission version.

The manual gearbox model develops the same amount of horsepower and 420 Nm at 1,400-2,600rpm. Both are 6-speed gearboxes.

The Toyota Fortuner comes with a part-time 4x4 drive system, a double wishbone front suspension, a 5-link rear suspension with coilover springs, and stabilizer bars on both axels. Toyota's official specifications say that the Fortuner is going to offer 750kg of unbraked towing capacity and 3,000kg of braked towing (2,800kg automatic).



The Toyota Fortuner is going to be available with a 7-seat configuration. Its equipment list includes, amongst others, a rear differential lock, 17 or 18-inch wheels, downhill assist control, roof rails, fog lamps, and reverse parking sensors. Toyota also equips its new SUV with bi-LED headlights, LED DRLs, a power back door, an air-conditioned compartment for food and drinks, and a range of optional accessories.
