Ford presents at this year's Frankfurt auto show their 2012 specifications Formula car, which will compete at first in the British Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship. Ford plans to introduce their new Formula car in other series around the world too. The 2012 Formula Ford car is a single seat, tubular steel frame racer that meets FIA's safety standards. The 2012 Formula Ford car is powered by a 1.6-litre Ford EcoBoost direct injection turbo engine, which develops 165 PS and 220 Nm of torque. The single seater is equipped with a 6-speed sequential transmission with mechanical shift mechanism.

Apart from the tubular chassis, Ford's 2012 Formula car comes with other safety features too, including front and rear carbon crash structures,

side intrusion panels, a FIA approved head restraint system, wheel tethers and a removable seat.

Ford will announce further details regarding their new 2012 Formula car at a later date.
