Ford 1.0 litre Race Car

 »  »  »

Ford recently launched a road-legal race car, which is powered by a 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine. Recently, the race car, which is used in Formula Ford, managed to run a record lap of the Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 22 seconds. This means that the Formula Ford 1.0-litre EcoBoost race car is faster around the "Green Hell" than such 600+ hp supercars like the Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari Enzo and the Pagani Zonda. This is quite an achievement, taking into account that we’re talking about such a tiny engine. This three-cylinder Ford 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine, which received the 2012 "International Engine of the Year" award, develops 205 PS. It is able to take Ford's race car from nought to 62 mph (100 km/h) in less than 4 seconds and up to a top speed of 255.5 km/h (158.8 mph).

Ford says that their new race car offers a fuel economy of 2.4 l/100 km (118 mpg) at 56 km/h (35 mph), and 5 l/100 km (57 mpg) at 120 km/h (75 mph). We're still waiting for a video proof of the car's record lap on the Nurburgring.
