Over the weekend, Jeep revealed the updated 2012 Wrangler, together with its three versions, the Unlimited Rubicon, the Sahara and the Unlimited Sahara. The 2012 Jeep Wrangler, one of the world's most capable off-road production model, now comes with a new 3.6-liter V6 engine mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. the new powertrain of the 2012 Wrangler promises to offer a 5 l/ 100 km (30 mpg) fuel consumption, 40% more power and 10% more torque than before. The 2012 Wrangler Jeep develops 285 hp (209 kW) and 260 lb.-ft. (353 Nm)of torque. The 2012 Wrangler 3.6 has a 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) acceleration time of 8.4 seconds.

Jeep will also sell the 2012 Wrangler with a larger displacement, 3.8-liter V6, which promises

to offer 40% more horsepower and 10% more torque than the previous version.

The 2012 Wrangler will be available in four trim levels, Sport B (Wrangler only), Sport S, Sahara and Rubicon, and it will feature a new interior, an optional modular body-color Freedom Top hardtop, and new fender flares.

For the 2012 model year, Jeep will continue to offer the Wrangler with a front and rear five-link



suspension system, live axles, electronic lockers and an optional 6-speed manual gearbox. However, Jeep says that the automatic transmission is the one offering an improved fuel economy and off-road capability via a lower overall crawl ratio.

The 2012 Jeep Wrangler is now available with more axle gear ratios, including 3.21, 3.73 or 4.10. The base version has a 907 kg (2,000 lb) towing capability, while the Unlimited is able to tow up to 1,588 kg (3,500 lbs).

Jeep says that the approach angle of the

2012 Wrangler is 44.3 degrees, and that it has a breakover angle of 25.5 degrees and departure angle of 40.4 degrees. The 2012 Wrangler Sport and Sahara come with a Dana 30 front axle and Dana 44 rear axle, while the Command-Trac NV241, part-time, two-speed transfer case now has a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio. The 2012 version of the Jeep also comes with an optional Trac-Lok limited-slip rear differential.

The Wrangler 2012 Rubicon comes with heavy-duty Dana 44 front and rear axles and with a 4.0:1

low-range gear ratio in the Rock-Trac NV241 two-speed transfer case.

In terms of design, the major changes brought by the 2012 version of the Jeep Wrangler are visible at the 4x4's interior. It features better quality materials, automatic temperature controls, heated seats, power heated side-view mirrors and cruise and audio controls mounted on the steering wheel. It also comes with an USB port, 12-volt accessory outlets, 115-volt AC outlet, Uconnect, voice recognition, Bluetooth streaming audio, navigation and SiriusXM Satellite Radio.

As far as the safety systems go, the 2012 Jeep Wrangler will offer the electronic stability control as standard, electronic roll mitigation,

Trailer-sway Control, Hill-start Assist and brake traction control.

Jeep will announce the price list of the 2012 Wrangler at a later date.
