Toyota premiered today at the 2011 IAA Frankfurt auto show the updated 2012 Avensis, which will soon go on sale across Europe and the UK. The 2012 Toyota Avensis comes with several new features, including an updated diesel engine, and a re-styled interior and exterior. Toyota will sell the 2012 Avensis with a new 2.0 liter D-4D turbodiesel engine, which develops 124 bhp and emits 119 g/km of CO2. This puts it in the Euro 6 emissions standards. The 2012 Avensis will also be available with Toyota's 2.2 D-4D engine (148bhp), which comes with either a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) or a Diesel Particulate and NOX Reduction filter (DPNR), or with the 1.8-litre Valvematic petrol engine, which develops 145bhp.
The 2012 Toyota Avensis 2.2 D-4D DPNR is equipped with a 6-speed automatic gearbox, while the 1.8 and 2.0-litre petrol model come with the Multidrive S continuously variable transmission with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters.
The 2012 Avensis keeps the overall exterior dimensions of the model, but comes with several styling updates. Toyota gave it new front grills and headlights, and new fog lights. At the rear, the 2012 Avensis features a new bumper, and new tail lights.
For the 2012 Avensis, Toyota designed new set of 16-, 17- and 18-inch wheels.
For the interior of the 2012 Avensis, Toyota is now using better quality materials, and it's offering a new leather upholstery, and the new Touch and Go Plus. This is Toyota's latest touch-screen satellite navigation system, which they say it's the most affordable in the D segment. The 2012 Avensis also comes with a 6.1” touch-screen, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity, and a rear-view camera.
Toyota equips the 2012 Avensis with all the
standard safety system you would expect from a 2012 model year car, together with a few additional ones. An Advanced Pre-Crash Safety (PCS) system, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keeping Assist are all available for the 2012 Avensis. Additional safety systems offered by the 2012 Avensis include Adaptive Front Lighting, and High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights.
