Lexus revealed this week the new generation 2014 IS model range, which includes the IS 250, the IS 350, the hybrid IS 300h as well as the F Sport special package. In terms of exterior design, the 2014 Lexus IS comes with a more aggressive appearance, with a remodeled front bumper with larger air vents, a lightly modified front grille, a modified rear bumper and re-styled front and rear lights. The 2014 Lexus IS is also equipped with redesigned LED daytime running lights. The 2014 Lexus IS F Sport has an even more powerful presence, thanks to a distinctive front grille and bumper. As far as the new interior of the 2014 IS goes, Lexus says they have improved the comfort of the rear seats, which now have 60:40 split/folding capacity for increasing the luggage space.
The 2014 Lexus IS's cabin offers higher quality materials, the latest HMI technology, an analog clock and electrostatic switches on the center console. Lexus also equipped new IS (2014) with a LFS-inspired steering wheel, and a driver's meter for the F Sport version.
The entry level 2014 Lexus IS 250 is powered by a 2.5 liter V6 petrol engine that's good for 204bhp / 152kW. The 2014 IS 350 has a 3.5 liter V6, while the 2014 IS 300h comes with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine that's equipped with D-4S fuel injection, Dual VVT-i intelligent variable valve timing and an Exhaust Gas Recirculation system.
The total output of the 2014 Lexus IS 300h is rated at 217bhp / 162kW. Its fuel economy is 65mpg and its CO2 emissions are below the 100 g/km mark. For the new IS (2014) Lexus offers the Drive Mode Select system that has four driving modes: ECO, NORMAL, SPORT and SPORT S+. The top of the range IS 350 (2014) comes with 8-speed, Sport Direct Shift (SPDS) automatic transmission.
The 2014 Lexus IS F Sport package includes updated aerodynamics, a specially tuned suspension and Electric Power Steering (EPS), Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) system and Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS). The 2014 F Sport also comes with 18-inch alloys, aluminum sill plates and pedals.
The safety systems offered by Lexus for the 2014 IS model range include the Automatic High Beam (AHB) headlamp system, a Lane Departure Alert (LDA) system, a Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) and a Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) system.
The 2014 Lexus IS's price has list has not been announced yet, but we know that the new model range will go on sale at the middle of this year.
