The new generation 2014 Mercedes S63 AMG has been revealed today, ahead of its global debut, which is going to take place at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show this fall. Mercedes is going to sell the new S36 AMG (2014) in three versions: Short wheelbase, Long wheelbase and the all-wheel-drive 4MATIC Long wheelbase. All three versions of the new Mercedes S63 AMG (2014) are powered by the same 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine, which has an output of 430 kW (585 hp) at 5,500 rpm and 900 Nm of torque between 2,250 rpm and 3,750 rpm. With this engine, the rear-wheel-drive versions of the 2014 S63 AMG need 4.4 seconds to get from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h), while the 4MATIC is able to accomplish the same thing in just 4.0 seconds. All of them are limited to a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

Since the 2014 Mercedes S63 AMG 4MATIC is heavier than the other two versions, is the least efficient. It has a combined fuel economy of 27.4 mpg (10.3 l/100 km) and a 242 g/km CO2 emissions level. The RWD versions of the new S36 AMG (2014) emit 237 g/km of CO2 and are rated with a combined fuel consumption of 27.9 mpg (10.1 l/100 km).

Apart from the new engine, the 2014 S63 comes with a few other highlights too. For instance, it's 100 kg lighter than its predecessor thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber and aluminum.

The 2014 S63 AMG's efficiency is further improved through the use of an ECO start/stop function.

The new S63 (2014) comes equipped with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports gearbox that offers three driving modes: C (Controlled Efficiency), S (Sport) and M (Manual). Merc’s' flagship saloon comes with a newly developed exhaust system that has a pair of automatic logic-controlled flaps that open only in the S and M driving modes.

In the case of the 2014 S63 4MATIC, the AWD system transfers 33% of the torque to the front wheels and the rest to the rear ones. The 2014 S63 is also equipped with a multi-disc clutch with a locking effect of 50 Nm. What's really impressive is that the 2014 S63 4MATIC's AWD system weighs just 70 kilograms.

All versions of the new S63 AMG (2014) come with ESP Curve Dynamic Assist as standard and a choice between two suspension systems: AIRMATIC and MAGIC BODY CONTROL. Mercedes offers the choice between a set of 19-inch or 20-inch alloys, as well as an optional ceramic high-performance composite brake system.

For the interior of the 2014 S63, Mercedes is offering, among others, sports seats with electrical adjustment, Memory function and seat heating, an IWC analog clock, a sports steering wheel and a high-resolution TFT color display.

Mercedes is going to make the 2014 S63 AMG available with two optional packages: Driving Assistance package Plus and the Night View Assist Plus.

The 2014 Mercedes S63 AMG's price starts in Europe at €149,880.50 EUR for the short wheelbase. The long wheelbase 4MATIC model is going to cost you at least €152,617.50 EUR.
