Alonso thumbs insured for 14M USD

 »  »  »

A recent report says that Fernando Alonso's thumbs are insured for no less than 14M USD, which is around 9 million GBP or around 10,5 million EUR. An F1 driver's thumbs are very important for his job, since he can't drive without them, but really, 14 million USD? However, this is the amount he will receive from the insurance company if he injures his thumb and can no longer compete. We guess 9 million GBP is quite enough as a retirement fund.

Fernando Alonso has recently signed a contract with Santander and he will be sponsored by the insurance and banking divisions of the company. We guess he got a nice deal on his thumbs' safety.

In this year's Formula 1 season, Fernando Alonso

ranks third after the first four races, sharing its place with McLaren's Lewis Hamilton.
