ZAP Alias for X PRIZE

The manufacturers of the ZAP Alias electric car announced today they have qualified for the Shakedown stage of the Progressive Insurance Automotive X PRIZE (PIAXP) competition for 100 MPG equivalent and above cars. The ZAP Alias will make its appearance this Thursday, April 29th, during kick-off ceremonies for the PIAXP at the Michigan state capitol in Lansing.

As part of the competition, the ZAP Alias will be tested on braking speed, lane change ability, acceleration and refueling/recharging time.

The ZAP Alias has a NASCAR-type construction with a tubular frame and composite body and gets its power from an electric motor and a lithium battery pack. The ZAP Alias is a three-wheeled,

front wheel drive roadster with a low profile, wide stance and a double-wishbone suspension.

The manufacturer says the ZAP Alias has a range of up to 100 miles at highway speeds.
