Prodrive announced today that it focuses on getting into WRC for the 2011 season and will not pursue any further efforts for getting into the 2011 F1 Championship. Apart from the 2011 WRC (World Rally Championship) season, Prodrive will also channel its efforts towards expanding its Aston Martin racing program.

Prodrive chairman, David Richards said the company will develop a completely new car for the 2011 WRC season. However, Mr. Richards did not mention on which model the 2011 WRC will be based on.

Prodrive will further develop its Aston Martin program to include all categories of sportscar racing, in the USA, Europe and at Le Mans.

Prodrive will also compete in a full V8 Supercar series in Australia with Ford.

Regarding Formula One, Mr. Richards said the funds necessary for sustaining an F1 season are simply too much for the company. He also said he doesn't believe Prodrive will be competitive in F1 just yet and that Formula One is just too expensive for his company right now.
