Tough choice: Tata Nano or iPad

 »  »  »

The new iPad, which hasn't been launched in India yet, made its way on the country's black market at more than three times the U.S. price. The price of the iPad in the U.S. is $699, but in India, the same gadget, is sold at the equivalent of $2,250. The cheapest car in the world, the Tata Nano, is priced from $2,500. This puts the customers on the Indian market in front of a tough choice: buy the new Apple iPad or a brand new car.

Even in these market conditions, an Indian gadget shop owner in Mumbai claims he sold five iPads at 2,250 USD a pop.

Apparently, Apple's new toy has made quite a stir with more than 450,000 units being sold in the first week after it went on sale.
