The Ingolstatd car maker revealed today the new Audi S3 Cabriolet, which is going to have its world debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show next month. Audi's open-top S3 is the first performance S cabriolet in the compact class. The Audi S3 cabrio is powered by the 2.0 TFSI turbocharged petrol engine that develops 300 PS (221 kW) between 5,500 rpm and 6,200 rpm 380 Nm (280.27 lb-ft) of torque from 1,800 to 5,500 rpm. Thanks to a weight of just 1,620 kg (3,571.49 lb), the Audi S3 convertible is able to accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.4 seconds and to reach a top speed of 250 km/h (155.34 mph). In terms of efficiency, Audi rates the S3 cabrio with a fuel economy of 7.1 l/100 km (33.13 US mpg, 39.8 UK mpg) and a CO2 emissions level of 165 g/km (265.54 g/mile).
The Audi S3 cabrio comes equipped as standard with the quattro permanent all-wheel-drive system and a 6-speed S tronic transmission.
Audi equips the cabriolet version of the S3 with an electrohydraulic operated soft top made of Magnesium, aluminum and high-strength steel. The roof can be opened or closed in 18 seconds and speeds of up to 50 km/h (31.07 mph). The S3 cabriolet is also equipped with an active rollover system.
Usually, cabriolets do not have a lot of space in the back, but Audi says the S3 cabrio can accommodate two adults in the back. It also comes with a 285 liter (10.06 cubic ft) luggage compartment that is reduced to 245 liters (8.65 cubic ft) when the top is down.
The equipment list of the Audi S3 Cabriolet includes head-level heating, LED headlights and the convenience key, MMI navigation plus with MMI touch and a high-resolution 7-inch monitor, and a Bang & Olufsen Sound System ups the ante with 13 speakers.
