BMW launched today in the United States the new 740Ld xDrive, which is a long wheelbase version of the latest 7 Series. The BMW 740Ld xDrive is powered by the 3.0-liter TwinPower turbodiesel engine that develops 255 hp at 4,000 rpm and 413 lb-ft of torque from 1,500 – 3,000 rpm. The engine of the 740Ld xDrive is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. BMW rates the 740Ld xDrive with a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 6.1 seconds. Its top speed is limited to 155 mph. The 740Ld Bimmer comes equipped as standard with Driving Dynamics Control with Eco Pro mode and Auto Start/Stop. These systems help reduce the BMW's fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The 740Ld's turbo comes with variable vane turbine technology, which improves the low-end torque.

The BMW 740Ld is also equipped with a Nox Storage Catalyst, Diesel Particulate Filter, and the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system.

The BMW 740Ld is going to have its world debut at the Chicago Auto Show next month, and it will go on sale this spring. Its price has not been announced yet.
