Bugatti revealed at the end of last week the new Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse WRC (World Record Car). The Bugatti Veyron Vitesse WRC is going to have its public debut at the Shanghai Motor Show 2013 this month. Bugatti says that the Vitesse WRC managed to set a new world speed record for open-top production sports cars. The Vitesse WRC was clocked with a top speed of 408.84 km/h on the Ehra-Lessien test track, which is Volkswagen's proving ground. The 408.84 km/h (254.04 mph) world speed record is certified by the TUV, which is an independent German organization for Technical Inspection and Certification. The Bugatti Vitesse WRC is powered by a 1,200 PS engine. The record was set by 29-year-old race driver Anthony Liu, who said the car is incredibly comfortable and stable even at speed of over 400 km/h.

Bugatti's official specifications say that the Vitesse WRC is powered by an 8-litre W16 engine that's good for 1,200 PS and 1,500 Nm of torque between 3,000 rpm and 5,000 rpm. The Vitesse WRC is built on a racing chassis and it's fitted with fast-acting shock absorbers, reinforced anti-roll bars and an all-wheel-drive system. The Vitesse WRC features a carbon monocoque chassis and a carbon fiber body.

The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse WRC's price is set at 1.99 million euros (plus tax). Only nine of them will ever be made.
