Citroen revealed today at the 2011 Shanghai auto show the new DS5, which in out opinion, represents a huge step forward in terms of design for the French car manufacturer. The Citroen DS5 will be available with the HYbrid4 diesel hybrid technology, which offers a 200 bhp power output and a four-wheel-drive system. The electric propulsion system of the Citroen DS5 can be used either for city driving, or as an acceleration boost when needed. Citroen says their new DS5 is able to offer a CO2 emissions level as low as 99g/km.
Citroen's DS5 measures 4.52m in length and 1.85m in width, has a compact body and its manufacturer claims it has a driving position similar to the one offered by a Gran Turismo coupe.
The body style of the Citroen DS5 is a blend of various models, including a hatchback and an estate. The DS5 is a four door, five seat vehicle that has a 465 liters luggage capacity.
Some of the most interesting design features of Citroen's DS5 include the 19 inch alloy wheels, the oversized air intake, the LED lights, and the two tail pipes integrated into the rear apron.
Citroen DS5's interior features a color Head-Up Display, ambient lighting, a START button and a
fine-grain Club leather upholstery.
The Citroen DS5 prototype on display in Shanghai features a one-off White Pearl exterior finish, 20-inch alloy wheels and a bespoke interior.
The price and availability of the Citroen's DS5 will be announced at a later date.
