Chrysler revealed today the new 2017 Dodge Challenger GT AWD, which is the world's first all-wheel-drive American coupe muscle car. Previously, the manufacturer revealed the AWD version of the four-door Charger. The reason behind the all-wheel-drive Challenger GT is that Dodge aims to offer all-weather driving confidence to its customers. The new AWD Challenger comes equipped with an active transfer case and front-axle disconnect. Dodge is going to sell the 2017 Challenger GT AWD with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, which delivers 305 hp at 6,350 rpm and 268 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,800 rpm. So far, a V8 version of the muscle car has not been announced. The 2017 Dodge Challenger GT's price starts at $33,395 MSRP, which does not include the $1,095 destination charge.

The new all-wheel-drive coupe will go on sale in the first quarter of 2017.

The equipment list of the new 2017 Dodge Challenger GT AWD includes a modified intake system, a dual exhaust, and a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission. According to the official specifications, the all-wheel-drive Challenger will offer an 18 mpg fuel consumption in the city and a 27 mpg fuel economy on the highway.

Thanks to the new AWD system, the 2017 Dodge Challenger GT is able to make the transition between rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive without driver intervention. In normal operating conditions, the car sends all power to the rear wheels. As soon as it detects more traction is required, the front axle is engaged automatically.

The 2017 Dodge Challenger GT AWD is also equipped with Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), three-mode Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and a full-color Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC). Dodge also equipped the new model with a Super Track Pak button, launch control, a 8.4-inch touchscreen radio, a G-force indicator, a 7-inch thin-film transistor (TFT) customizable cluster display, 19-inch wheels, ParkSense rear park assist and ParkView rear backup camera.

Unfortunately, Dodge did not disclose the performance figures (top speed, 0-60 mph acceleration) of the Challenger GT AWD.
