UPDATE: Droptop Customs has just confirmed that their Cadillac CTS Coupe Convertible will feature a power top, like all their other conversions. As far as the extra weight goes, inherent to all convertible versions, the manufacturer says it's not enough to harm the handling characteristics of the car. The Droptop Cadillac CTS Coupe Convertible is an estimated 100-150 lbs heavier than the standard car. The company says the open-top version also manages to keep its rigidity and structural integrity.

Droptop Customs, a company from High Springs, Florida, specialized in developing open-top versions of hard-top production cars, has sent us these few images of their Cadillac CTS Coupe Convertible conversion.

The Droptop Cadillac CTS Coupe Convertible will be unveiled at the SEMA show this year, and we bet it will make quite an impression.

From the looks of it, the Droptop Cadillac CTS Coupe Convertible features a fabric soft-top which retracts in a space above the luggage compartment. At this point we're not really sure it the top is manual or mechanical operated.

As far as the overall design goes, the Droptop Cadillac CTS Coupe Convertible seems to follow the same basic roof lines as the standard hard-top model, so the aerodynamics of the car will not be affected.

The developers of the Droptop Cadillac CTS Coupe Convertible say they see the CTS as a replacement for the Eldorado. Over the year's, they managed to get the top off around 3,000 of them, so they hope they'll be able to do the same with the CTS Coupe.

We'll have more details on the Droptop Cadillac CTS Coupe Convertible soon.
