According to a recent rumor, Lexus is preparing the electric Lexus RX which will be built in collaboration with Tesla. Toyota is currently developing testing prototypes of the electric Lexus RX and of the electric Toyota RAV4. The same sources announce that Toyota is also considering building an electric version of the Corolla. However, the Toyota Corolla will have a rather difficult time coping with the weight of the battery pack. So, the electric Lexus RX and Toyota RAV4 are the more suitable options.
Toyota’s President Akio Toyoda has announced that his company has already signed an agreement with Tesla for exchange of technology. This means the electric Lexus RX and Toyota RAV4 are getting closer and closer to reality.
Apart from the electric Lexus RX, Akio Toyoda also announced that its company is pursuing various other agreements with other companies with the goal of developing several other new car technologies.
