Honda announced today that the CR-Z Racer developed by HPD (Honda Performance Development) will run a few demonstration laps during this year's Le Mans 24 Hours race. The Honda CR-Z Racer was displayed for the first time at the 2010 SEMA Show in Las Vegas and had its racing debut at the Thunderhill 25 Hours. HPD developed the competition version of Honda's CR-Z to discover technical racing solutions specific to hybrids.

The Honda CR-Z Racer is powered by the standard 1.5-liter 4-cylinders in-line engine, featuring fuel Injection and turbocharging, which works together with an electric motor. The engine of the CR-R is mounted transversely and the car has a front-wheel-drive architecture.

The Honda CR-Z Racer features a 7 kWh/173 volt Li-ion battery and a 6 speed manual transmission.

Honda says that their CR-Z Racer develops 200 hp and 237 Nm of torque.
