In our Internet scouring and daily link-trading, we see a lot of lot of obscure cars from cottage-industry types and kit car builders the world over. Most of them look ham-fisted and probably drive much the same, but we believe this Interclassic CincoZ might be a worthwhile exception.
The German-built open-top two-seater isn’t shy about its nostalgia for racecars of the Sixties and Seventies, and we think it’s just this side of gorgeous. The company appears to have gone to great lengths to design and assemble a tube frame capable of supporting a range of sports car bodystyles, including this one. And they report that they’ve had the chassis and other safety systems vetted at
the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg, so the Interclassic CincoZ doesn’t appear to just be the handiwork of some German yokel out in his shed with an arc welder.
The fiberglass-reinforced plastic panels tilt up for easy access to the engine and suspension. In this case, the vehicle here has been fitted with an Audi-sourced V-6 engine and five-speed gearbox. The company says that a range of different engines can be (and have been) fitted, including Audi’s stonking 4.2-liter V-8, a Rover K-series, a small-block Ford, and so on. Click here for some of the
fitments.
At a glance, at least, the rest of the car looks promising, as Interclassic promises good-sized (but not overly-large) 17-inch wheels, Koni shocks, and a stainless-steel exhaust.
"With the Interclassic CincoZ, our first bodywork for the Chassis A, we revived the racing feeling of the 60s and 70s. The car combines nostalgia and speed. The result of the high design expenditure and the high quality is pure driving pleasure of the Interclassic CincoZ.
The bodywork is glass fibre reinforced plastic. It consists of 15 single parts which are supplied in the basic colours black and white. The body parts have to be reworked and fitted in detail. Each body part is pretempered. This prevents the sag of the paint job. The rocker panel consist of two single parts. The outer aluminium shell shows a perfect appearance, the aluminium sandwich underneath takes care of the stability. Changes in detail are possible on request.
The flip front and rear hood are equipped with two pressurized gas shocks. The low windshield and
side windows as well as the headlight covers made of Makrolon can be ordered in a variety of colours.
The Spyder will have a safety glass windshield in the near future. It is fitted to the design of the car and has an aluminium frame. A hand operated soft top will be added as well. We will inform you as soon as we have these parts ready for sale.
The passenger room as well as the interior can be fitted to the driver. For this, the pedals can be adjusted in length and the seat position of the driver can be adjusted, too."
