Some car manufacturers choose to make their presence felt on the Nurburgring Nordschleife racetrack by offering a taxi service. However, this is not your average taxi service. The cars take paying customers for a few hot laps of the 'Ring, offering them some serious thrills. Arguably the most famous of these taxis is BMW's M5. Jaguar announced today their 'Ring taxi service, which will use the new XJ. The Jaguar XJ 'Ring taxi is based on the long wheelbase XJ Supersport which is equipped with the Sport and Speed Pack options. Jaguar's new taxi is powered by a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine, capable of delivering 510 PS. On paper, the XJ is able to reach a top speed of 174 mph.

Jaguar made several modifications to the original XJ in order to make it safe enough for use as a Nurburgring taxi. The car's rear bench was been replaced by two sport bucket seats, as well as the front seats. A roll cage and four-point harnesses have also been installed.

Jaguar did not announce how much the fare is for their new taxi.
