MTM Volkswagen T5 gets 472 hp

The German tuners from MTM announced today their premieres for the 2012 Geneva auto show. They will include a 310 hp Audi Q3 and a monster Volkswagen T5 bus called the T 500. Some might think that MTM's T5 is just another joyfully colored Volkswagen bus, but they will be very wrong. The MTM T 500 is powered by a 2.5 TFSI 5-cylinder engine and it's equipped with VW's 4motion all-wheel-drive system. MTM's highly modified VW T5 develops 472 hp at 6,900 rpm and an incredible 625 Nm of torque at 4,100 rpm. MTM says that their new bus is able to reach a top speed of 280 km/h, instead of the standard 200 km/h. Can you even imagine going at almost 300 km/h in what is basically a van?

Of course, so much power and torque coming from the engine created serious issues with the transmission. MTM's engineers managed to solve them, but they didn't disclose how they did it.

Having all that power in a rather heavy vehicle means you need some serious brakes and tires. MTM's T 500 Volkswagen T5 comes with larger discs, 6-pitson calipers and 20-inch alloys with Michelin SuperSport tires.

Unfortunately, all this fun comes at a price. MTM will not sell you one of their T 500 Volkswagen T5 buses for less than 160,000 Euro.
